When I was young, I never imagined I’d be in real estate. My father, a retired army officer, ventured into the field as a consultant after leaving the military. He was honest, straightforward, and had an incredible work ethic, but the real estate world was a different game-one he didn’t fully know. My brother and I weren’t interested, either; I pursued software engineering while he went in a different direction.
Once I started working in IT, I quickly realized it wasn’t my calling. The paycheck was low, and the work didn’t inspire me. I found myself questioning why I was doing something I didn’t enjoy for so little reward. Around this time, I had a chat with my father about real estate income, and a particular agent’s earnings caught my attention. Even with modest success, he was earning more than ten times what I was. This was a wake-up call.

I found myself questioning why I was doing something I didn’t enjoy for so little reward. Around this time, I had a chat with my father about real estate income, and a particular agent’s earnings caught my attention. Even with modest success, he was earning more than ten times what I was. This was a wake-up call.
I decided to try real estate, and my father welcomed me with open arms. The next morning, I was out surveying colonies in South Delhi on my Royal Enfield. For months, I focused on learning the lanes, properties, and prices. I accompanied my father to meetings, observing, listening, and making the occasional mistake. These early experiences—along with my father’s guidance-were invaluable, despite some real estate veterans seeing me as future competition and sometimes giving misleading advice.
One of my early breaks came when an ad I posted connected a landlord and a tenant perfectly. This single deal earned me more in one shot than five months of my previous salary. It was proof that real estate held real potential. I adjusted my style, traded the casual look for something more professional, and focused on building my knowledge and presence in the field.
Soon, my brother joined the business, and together, we focused on sale and purchase transactions. As I gained confidence, I invested in self-improvement—taking courses to enhance my skills, mindset, and relationships. This personal development paid off, and over the years, I closed many deals alongside my dad. By then, I’d married and welcomed a child, which gave me fresh motivation and a drive to secure a stable future.
However, real estate isn’t a straight path. I went through high points and dry spells, including an extended period when deals just weren’t coming through. During one of these tough phases, I reflected on what I might be doing wrong, and I began to refine my approach independently.
Later, I went through personal challenges, including a divorce, but I used this time to my advantage. I worked long hours, seven days a week, and also dedicated myself to voluntary work with an organization that had deeply impacted my life. The experience of giving back became a passion.
Then COVID hit, and I lost my father. The pandemic reminded me of my financial goals. While I had a comfortable lifestyle, I hadn’t built real wealth. I decided to return to sale-purchase transactions, a shift that meant essentially rebuilding my business from scratch.
To support this new direction, I invested heavily in learning about social media, branding, and real estate best practices. The process was intense, but over three years, I hustled harder than ever, following up with clients for months—even years—to make deals happen. Today, I am proud of the business I’ve built, with a proven track record of helping clients find the perfect properties and guiding them through each step.
My journey taught me resilience, strategy, and the value of personal growth. Now, as I continue to grow my real estate business, I’m also interested in guiding new agents, hoping to help others succeed in this industry.
